Ar-Rayyan does not collect, store, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. Prayer times, the Qibla, the rak'ah counter, and the Quran text, translation and transliteration all work entirely on your device.
The app connects to the internet only when you choose to download a Quran recitation (see below).
Ar-Rayyan uses your device's location to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. This happens entirely on your device. Your location is never transmitted, stored remotely, or shared with anyone, including us.
The automatic rak'ah counter uses the front camera and depth sensors to detect sujood (prostration) during prayer. All processing happens on your device in real time. No photos, videos, depth data, or face data are ever recorded, saved, or transmitted. Nothing leaves your phone.
If you enable prayer time notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent to any server.
If you choose to download a recitation, the audio files (Mishary Rashid Alafasy) are downloaded directly from mp3quran.net. As with any website, their server receives your device's IP address and the standard technical details a request carries (such as your phone's system version and model) in order to send the file. The app sends no account, identifier, location or usage data, and we receive no information about your downloads. Downloaded audio is stored only on your device and is not included in your iCloud or Android backups. You can remove it at any time in Quran → Downloads. mp3quran.net's own privacy policy applies to their servers.
Prayer times shown on Apple Watch, widgets, and complications are synced directly between your own devices using Apple's frameworks. We have no access to this data.
Ar-Rayyan does not collect data from anyone, including children.
If the app's privacy practices ever change, this page will be updated and the change will be noted in the app's update notes.
